SAUCY SUE'S PICKLED GREEN BEANS

My garden is producing lots and lots of green beans.  I love them and I know in winter I will be dreaming about them.  However right now I have had enough.  I looked up green beans on google and came upon this recipe.........can't wait to try them.  The beans, garlic and dill are from my garden. Saucy green beans.

GATOR IN THE POOL

Sadie has chased a bear down the road and drives all big dogs off her property  But blow up an inflatable toy and she becomes chicken little.

MY GUARDIAN ANGELS

NEWTON THE PIG IS GUARDING THE FRONT DOOR

SALLY THE SCARECROW GUARDS THE  GARDEN

The bear has been roaming all around us and everyone is on edge.  My bee hive was knocked over and  a few doors down a front door was clawed.  The police will not come unless the bear is attacking you and the MNR no longer  relocates problem bears.   Cathy and Dave from Life On The Muskoka River think that a paint ball will do the trick.

I don't know what the answer is, but I would really like to get a good night sleep soon.  I really don't think I can wait until he/she decides to  hibernate.

BAD BEAR

Bandit waiting for everything to go back to normal.

The past two days have been crazy for all of us here.  On July 3rd at 3:00 am a very big bad bear decided to come for a visit.  Not only did he wake me, Bandit, and Sadie out of our beauty sleep he pushed over the bee hive.

He sat  there boldly eating my bees  in the  front yard.  Not a care in the world, well maybe he is a bit hungry as they have closed his fast food restaurant aka  the dump.  Dogs frantically barking,me yelling he really didn't care.

Once day light came I knew that I had to put the hive together as best as I could.  My son in law was dropping my grand kids off for the day at 5:45 am.  I was going to relax this summer....ha ha ha.

After meeting with the bee inspector, filling out a bear damage report, fixing the electric fence -it didn't work-( in 30C temps wearing a bee suit) trying to blow up a pool for my grand daughter, fix lunches, snacks, tend to bee stings on three dogs, wipe up dog puke, wipe my grand daughter's bum, and take many phone calls from worried family and friends I tried to close my eyes for a few minutes.

How the time flys when you are having fun.

It was about 7;30 pm when I yelled HOLY CRAP that BAD BEAR is back.  My grand daughter tells me "Grandma watch your mouth"  She is almost eight and has all the answers.

This bear is huge and is in front of my house!  He walks over to the hive and the bees are just crazy, dogs are barking, I'm banging metal dog dishes, phone is ringing and my grand daughter is watching cartoons!   Next I know the bear leaves and I haven't seen him since.

Yes I still want to keep bees!

MY SILLY KITCHEN GARDEN

My old broken pottery get a second life in my garden.    A couple of years ago I found an old fork while digging and decided to put with the pottery and herbs.   It  then became Silly Sue's kitchen garden.

Jake the snake on his/her way to Silly Sue's kitchen garden!

There now is a big problem.   Jake has decided that he/she wants to visit the kitchen garden every once in awhile.   I do like snakes but I don't like he/she coming out of no-where and freaking me out.  So I think that part of the garden wll be put on hold for now!

BANDIT AND THE CHICKEN COOP

Yesterday Bandit was trapped under the chicken coop.
I heard him whining and knew he was in trouble. He had somehow wedged himself under the chicken coop. He couldn't move.  I started digging as Bandit  continued whining.   I didn't think that I could get him out so I called the SPCA.  Just as they pulled in the driveway Bandit poked his little head out of the hole.
I was dirty and exhausted but so happy that Bandit was ok!

GREY HAIRED YOUNG DRIVER

I had my last driving lesson with Young Drivers of Canada today.  I won't miss the parallel parking or the big sign that tells everyone that I'm a young driver.  I always wonder what people think when they see a grey haired lady behind the wheel.  I almost wanted to wear a wig or dye my hair for my lessons.

I'm not ready to take my test yet but at least I can drive in my car that doesn't scream LOOK OUT!

SISTER TO SISTER

I had a great visit with my sister these past two weeks.   She is living in Glenvale, New Brunswick and I am in Bracebridge.
Our time together is never long enough!

We talked about old times and how we both felt that we had a strange childhood.
I guess that is why we think of ourselves as the  twisted Glen sisters.

We  haven't changed much on the insides however the outside is  looking a little ragged.

This saying comes to mind:

Sister to sister we will always be
a couple of nuts from the family tree.

WINTER PROJECTS

This winter I have tried to use some of my left over wool.  I crochet this poncho from 100% Canadian wool.  I love working with natural yarn it has such a nice texture
Here is Raine modelling the poncho!

GETTING FIT

With spring just around the corner I have decided it's time to loose some weight and get in shape.

March is the perfect time of year to think about getting ready for the nice weather and I am  excited and motivated to succeed.

THE PLAN

1.  Follow an old 2005 Weight Watchers book.  (I am 20 lbs heavier)   WOW that's bad!!!!!

2.  Exercise with my Wii Fit Plus

GOAL

1.   Loose the 20 lbs that I gained in 7 years

2.   Have more energy to garden and work my beehives.

Now that I have put this on my blog I better DO IT!!!!

MIC LABELS

My granddaughter is in trouble for scattering labels all over her house.  Her mother has been finding them stuck to the furniture, floor, walls etc.
Not all labels, only the Made in China  ones!  Oh No.....this means trouble.

Apparently I am to blame.  It seems that she has watched me checking almost everything I pick up and making a negative comment about where they come from.
She is removing the stickers from her toys and taking care of the problem her way.

MY CRAZY WEEK

Woke up this morning and remembered that it is preparation day for my colonoscopy.  YUK
I love to eat, so thinking of clear fluids and jello all day is rather depressing.
This week is very busy for me,not good busy.....yucky busy.

Monday I went to the dentist,I don't know about you but I feel weird after most dentist appointments. My first clue was that the salegirl in Home hardware made fun of me because I had buttoned my coat crooked (just like I did when I was a kid) Now that's not a good sign when you are an old girl like me!What will I be doing at 70 or 80 (wishful thinking)

Tuesday talked to my mother for 1 hour about bra fitting...that was loads of fun. Talked with my babysister Carol (aprox 2 hours) about blogging and changed my whole look. She did most of it cause I really don't have a clue.

Wednesday  I figured I better read my PREP SHEET from the doctor...It goes like this
Drink only clear fluids the entire day
8 AM take 2 laxatives
3 PM take 2 laxatives
5PM-9PM drink 4 litres of Peglyte
Then I hear I must be close to a bathroom because I'm told I'II be there for awhile.  Sounds like fun!

Thursday is THE BIG DAY arrive at hospital for 12:00 (must be for lunch)
then the COLONOSCOPY,recovery for about 1 hour (I hear that you toot aka pass gas very loudly)
then it's time to go home.

Friday I hope nothing happens as I plan to eat all day!
