Cock a doodle

Here he is!  Bold boy!  In action cock a doodle do......
..I was under the impression that roosters only did it in the morning.  Not this guy.  He sometimes does it at 2:00am 4:00am and pretty much when someone comes in the driveway.
He attacks anyone who comes into the coop but eats gently from my hand.

I have been telling him that we may have rooster rather than turkey for Christmas if he doesn't smarten up.
Just kidding, I do love him

WINTER WONDERLAND

We have had so much snow in the last couple of days, it is hard to keep the path to the coop clear of snow.

The chickens water has been freezing, so I need to check it throughout the day.

Not much time for knitting

THE CHICKEN COOP

Bandit loves stealing a bit of the chicken's food.  He even risks getting a peck from the rooster.

Christmas Door Swag

The  workshop at The Flying Star Antique showed us how to decorate for Christmas using branches that you can cut from your backyard.  A wonderful lunch was provided and we all left with great door swags.

Dec 2 2013

This is my 2013 honey.  Not a great year.
I had four swarms ( that is when the hive is too crowded and the queen and her entourage leaves and looks for a new home)

BEESWAX SALVE AND LIP BALM

My beeswax has been sitting in the basement long enough.  Time to use it before I become a beeswax hoarder.

This pure beeswax is used in my handcrafted skin care products.

Olive oil, palm oil, beeswax, honey and vitamin E salve/lip balm

I am waiting for some organic herbs that should arrive by the end of the week.  Can't wait to brew up other goodies.

I DID IT!

I haven't  blogged since Aug because  I have been running the roads of Bracebridge and surrounding areas.  It's not because I have places to go it's because I after 60 years I CAN!
On September 13th and about two thousand dollars worth of  driving lessons I passed my driving test.  My family and friends are proud of me and I don't have to rely on others for rides here and there.

Winter driving is a little scary but I'm doing pretty good for an old girl!

The plow just went past so off I go.
